This is one of the most popular western-style nightclubs for Arabs in Manama and at weekends is packed to the gills with a heaving mass of Gulf male nationals. Whichever night you pitch up, chances are there will be some kind of deal on drinks. The music is something of an acquired taste – an interesting fusion of Arabic/Latino funk – but if you head there in a group, it’s easily relegated to background noise. The people of Bahrain are slowly but steadily warming to Pulse with its jungle decor and wipe-clean tables, and if it carries on as its going (though a facelift wouldn’t go amiss).
